The vase base was meticulously handcrafted by the artisans at Royal Delft, the world’s oldest surviving Delft Blue pottery workshop. Inspired by a 17th-century lidded jar from the historic De Drie Posteleyne Astonne pottery—an original of which resides in the Royal Delft Museum—this contemporary vessel translates centuries of Dutch ceramic tradition into a refined, modern form. The vase is adorned with a detailed transfer print featuring birds and florals in deep cobalt blue, a classic Delft pottery motif. The intricacy and balance of the design reflect Royal Delft’s legacy of excellence.
We then transformed the piece into a this unique handcrafted lamp, a piece of functional art. The Delft blue base is paired with a bespoke classic blue and white lampshade, a white shade. finished with navy blue trim that echoes the tones of the vase. About Royal Delft
De Porceleyne Fles, later given the distinction of Koninklijke or Royal, known now as Royal Delft, is a Dutch manufacturer of Delftware, or Delfts aardewerk, headquartered in Delft, the Netherlands. It is the only remaining ceramics factory out of 32 that were established in Delft during the 17th century. Founded in 1653, it has been active for over 360 years without interruption. Royal Delft is not only the oldest surviving producer of Delftware, but one that is highly respected for its artistry.
