Al Yarrar Granada Nasrid Ceramic Table Lamp – Albacyín

€1,990.00

Meet Albacyín, part of our new Spanish Lamp Collection, handcrafted from a contemporary ceramic vase by the distinguished Andalusian atelier Al Yarrar, based in Granada’s historic Albaicín district. Drawing inspiration from the region’s rich Andalusí artistry and centuries-old ceramic traditions, this one-of-a-kind lamp captures the spirit of southern Spain’s cultural crossroads — where Moorish geometry, Mediterranean colour, and artisanal mastery converge.

The vase base features an Andalusí-Nasrid-inspired pattern rendered in turquoise, cobalt blue, and jade green, accented with vivid red and golden-saffron details. Fine manganese-toned outlines separate the colours in the manner of cuerda seca, a hallmark of Granada’s ceramic tradition. The design unfolds in rhythmic symmetry — scrolling vines and stylised blossoms within interlacing medallions — a visual language rooted in centuries of Mudéjar ornament.

We’ve paired the vase base with a custom lampshade in raw golden-saffron silk, its vivid tone recalling the warmth of Andalusian sunlight. The textured fabric, finished with a handcrafted passementerie trim also from southern Spain, diffuses light with a soft, opulent glow, perfectly balancing the cool greens and blues of the ceramic base.

Height: 63 cm (24.8 in) with lampshade
Diameter: 32 cm (12.6 in) with lampshade

About Al Yarrar

Founded in 1983 by Bernardo Sánchez in the Albayzín neighborhood of Granada, Al Yarrar was born from a singular vision: to retrieve and revive the pottery traditions of Al-Andalus. Located in this historic quarter facing the Alhambra and close to the river Darro, the workshop has dedicated itself to scholarly study and faithful reproduction of Nasrid ceramics (13th-16th centuries).

Rather than creating imitations, Al Yarrar engages in rigorous historical research, meticulously studying authentic pieces to understand the design principles, techniques, and aesthetic values that defined Islamic Andalusian ceramics. Each piece produced by the workshop represents a commitment to honoring centuries-old craft traditions with integrity, ensuring that these artistic languages remain alive and practiced rather than merely preserved in museums. Al Yarrar's work stands as a bridge between Granada's rich Islamic past and contemporary artisanal practice.
