About Al Yarrar
Founded in 1983 by Bernardo Sánchez in the Albayzín neighborhood of Granada, Al Yarrar was born from a singular vision: to retrieve and revive the pottery traditions of Al-Andalus. Located in this historic quarter facing the Alhambra and close to the river Darro, the workshop has dedicated itself to scholarly study and faithful reproduction of Nasrid ceramics (13th-16th centuries).
Rather than creating imitations, Al Yarrar engages in rigorous historical research, meticulously studying authentic pieces to understand the design principles, techniques, and aesthetic values that defined Islamic Andalusian ceramics. Each piece produced by the workshop represents a commitment to honoring centuries-old craft traditions with integrity, ensuring that these artistic languages remain alive and practiced rather than merely preserved in museums. Al Yarrar's work stands as a bridge between Granada's rich Islamic past and contemporary artisanal practice.
