Founded in Gouda in 1898, Koninklijke Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland quickly became one of the Netherlands’ most celebrated ceramic producers. Known for its richly glazed plateel earthenware, the factory evolved from the floral Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles of the early 20th century into refined, modernist designs by the 1930s–1960s.
