About Manises Ceramics
For more than six centuries, the town of Manises in Valencia has been one of Spain’s foremost centers of ceramic art. Its workshops trace their origins to the Hispano-Moresque potters of the 14th century, who brought to Spain the intricate tin-glaze and metallic lustre techniques of Al-Andalus. Over time, these influences evolved into the distinctive Manises majolica style—earthenware with creamy glazes, cobalt blues, and rhythmic geometric decoration.
By the 20th century, Manises had become synonymous with the Spanish decorative revival, producing exuberant forms and bold glazes for the modern home. Its artisans reinterpreted medieval and Renaissance motifs in sculptural mid-century lamps and vessels, combining traditional skill with postwar optimism. Today, Manises ceramics remain prized for their expressive color, distinctive modeling, and the continuity of a craft that has defined Valencian artistry for generations.
About Liberty Fabrics
Founded by Arthur Lasenby Liberty in London in 1875, Liberty Fabrics has long stood at the intersection of art, design, and craftsmanship. What began as a small emporium offering exotic textiles from the East soon became a creative powerhouse, known for its fluid collaboration with artists of the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movements.
Each Liberty print begins as an original artwork, hand-drawn by the brand’s in-house design team and printed on fine cottons, silks, or linens at the Liberty mill in northern Italy.
