Mid-Century Manises Sculptural Floral Ceramic Table Lamp — Luz

€1,630.00

Meet Luz, part of our new Spanish lamps collection. She is a one-of-a-kind mid-century Spanish ceramic table lamp from the historic pottery town of Manises, near Valencia. A vivid turquoise-glazed base erupts into a sculptural cone of hand-modeled flowers, each petal and seed-head individually formed and applied in relief. The lamp sits on its original gilt wooden base and is paired with a new dark terracotta silk drum lampshade and new wiring, a fabric wrapped gold cord.

Dating from the mid-20th century (circa 1950s–1970s), this piece belongs to the celebrated wave of Manises floral lamps, known for their exuberant forms and saturated turquoise glazes that became a hallmark of the region’s postwar production.  The densely layered blossoms give it a strong sculptural presence even when unlit; switched on, the warm terracotta shade softens the intense blue, casting a rich, atmospheric glow.

Height: 74 cm (29 in) with lampshade
Diameter: 32 cm (12.6 in) with lampshade

About Manises Ceramics

Manises, in the province of Valencia, has been a major ceramics center for over 700 years, with roots in Moorish lusterware and a golden age of production in the 14th–18th centuries, when its pieces were exported to courts and churches across Europe.  In the 19th and 20th centuries, Manises workshops evolved toward richly colored earthenware and decorative objects, including the iconic mid-century lamps with applied flowers, leaves, and fruit in brilliant turquoise glazes that are now highly collectible.
