Petrus Regout Antique Chinoiserie Ceramic Table Lamp—Jules

€1,350.00

Meet Jules, an exceptional antique table lamp handcrafted by Amitābha Studio from a late 19th-century Petrus Regout & Co. ginger jar, produced in Maastricht circa the 1880s. This rare Dutch ceramic vessel—richly decorated in a Chinoiserie scheme—has been thoughtfully transformed into one of our unique table lamps, preserving its history while introducing refined contemporary function.

The baluster-form body is organized into framed vignettes, each enclosing stylized landscapes with pavilions, rockwork, and botanical motifs. These panels are bordered by scrolling foliage and geometric banding, all set against a luminous ivory ground. The palette—crisp black linework layered with ochre, celadon green, muted turquoise, soft iron red, and pale blue—reflects the late 19th-century European fascination with East Asian decorative arts. Characteristic of Petrus Regout production of this period, the decoration was likely built upon a transfer-printed foundation and then extensively hand-finished, resulting in painterly variation and subtle tonal depth.

Founded in Maastricht in the 19th century, Petrus Regout & Co. became one of Europe’s most influential ceramic manufacturers, bridging industrial innovation with hand-applied embellishment. Their wares were widely exported and admired for combining accessibility with decorative ambition.

The vase is paired with a custom tailored drum lampshade with a delicate repeating scallop motif in soft gold, brass details and a fabric wrapped cord.

Height: 51 cm (20.8 in) with shade
Width: 30 cm (11.8 in) with shade
