Meet Salvador, a one-of-a-kind table lamp from our new Spanish collection, crafted from a vintage Punter albarello-shaped vase and rooted in the celebrated ceramic traditions of Teruel, Aragón. The Punter workshop, renowned across five generations, played a central role in the 20th-century revival of Mudéjar-inspired ceramics, translating medieval motifs into a vivid, modern painterly language.
The wheel-thrown lamp base is finished in a creamy white tin glaze, then hand-painted in green and manganese-black with bold black linework. This palette—the hallmark of Teruel ceramics—traces directly to the medieval Mudéjar traditions of Aragón.
Across the body, framed panels unfold a sequence of motifs: a stylized long-necked bird, swelling seed pods, and a bearded face enclosed within a medallion. Painted freehand with confident strokes, they capture the essence of the revival style pioneered by Domingo Punter and his contemporaries, reimagining medieval symbols with expressive modern energy.
The base reveals reddish terracotta clay at the foot, along with the bold inscription “PUNTER,” a direct mark of authenticity from this historic family workshop.
To complement the ceramic base, we’ve paired Salvador with a custom lampshade in a green, black, and white tweed weave that recalls classic couture textiles. The fabric’s textured pattern picks up the tones of the glaze, adding depth to the lamp’s profile. The shade is finished with a double-cord passementerie trim by Houlès, and when illuminated, it casts a warm, inviting glow.
Height: 61 cm (24 in) with lampshade
Diameter: 36 cm (14 in) with lampshade
