The ribbed vase base is an original Royal Delft (De Porceleyne Fles) vase dated 1924, painted by Delft master painter Th. A.B. van Lingen as indicated by the painter and year markings on the base. Large peony medallions and dense cobalt leaves and buds in the classic Delft blue and white palette form a very unique Royal Delft decoration, rarely seen.

As a warm counterpart but still classic pairing, the lamp base has been paired with a new, custom-made lampshade in vermilion dupion silk, whose characteristic slub gives the surface texture and visual depth.

About Royal Delft
De Porceleyne Fles — now known as Royal Delft — was founded in 1653 and has been active for over 370 years without interruption, the sole survivor of the more than thirty Delftware manufacturers that once operated in the city. In 1919 the Dutch royal family granted the factory its royal warrant; this vase was made five years later. Royal Delft pieces from this period carry a fully systematic approach to dating and painter attribution, making each piece precisely traceable — which is part of what draws collectors to them.
