Large Royal Delft Blue-and-White Ceramic Vintage Chinoiserie Table Lamp – Amalia

€1,890.00

Meet Amalia, a one-of-a-kind table lamp lovingly handcrafted from a vintage Royal Delft (De Porceleyne Fles) vase, made in 1948 at the oldest surviving Delftware factory, and paired with a pleated silk lampshade in dark terracotta.

Hand-painted by a Delft master painter, the vase base is richly covered with peonies and small birds set among scrolling foliage. The imagery reflects the Chinoiserie influence that had long been absorbed into Delftware decoration, bringing together European and East Asian stylistic elements.

The elegant lampshade emanates a soft warm light and provides a beautiful complementary contrast to the crisp blue-and-white ceramic base.

This large lamp is a true statement piece, designed to anchor a room and bring both history and craftsmanship into a contemporary interior.

Authenticity is confirmed by the marks on the base, which include the 1948 date code, the painter’s initials, and the De Porceleyne Fles factory symbol.

De Porceleyne Fles, later given the distinction of Koninklijke or Royal, known now as Royal Delft, is a Dutch manufacturer of Delft Blue pottery, or Delfts Blauw aardewerk, headquartered in Delft, the Netherlands. It is the only remaining ceramics factory out of 32 that were established in Delft during the 17th century. Founded in 1653, it has been active for over 360 years without interruption. Royal Delft is not only the oldest surviving producer of Delftware, but one that is highly respected for its artistry. The motifs on Delft Blue ceramics find their roots in the Chinese porcelain from the Ming and K‟ang Hsi dynasties.
