Manises Vintage Table Lamp with Liberty London Lampshade – Marisol

€1,990.00

Meet Marisol, a radiant celebration of Spanish sunshine and mid-century design, handcrafted from a vintage Manises ceramic lamp base dating from the 1950s-1970s, most likely from the celebrated Bondia workshop. As part of our new Spanish lamps collection, Marisol captures the warmth and color of the Mediterranean, inspired by Amitābha Studio's recent move to Spain.

The butter-yellow glazed ceramic base showcases the refined craftsmanship of Manises pottery—the historic Valencian ceramic tradition renowned for its lustrous glazes and sculptural forms. With its fluted column and articulated bulbous detail, the lamp base exemplifies the elegant restraint of Spanish mid-century design, where classical forms meet modern sensibility.

We've paired this luminous base with an exuberant bespoke drum lampshade in Liberty London fabric—a bold, large-scale floral bursting with chrysanthemum blooms in golden yellows, warm oranges, deep teals, and rich browns against a navy ground. The pattern evokes the joyful maximalism of 1970s design with its layered, painterly florals and saturated color palette. Finished with a double Houlès passementerie cord trim that echoes the base's golden glow, the shade creates a perfect harmony between English textile artistry and Spanish ceramic tradition.

The result is a conversation-starting table lamp that marries two great design heritages—Spanish mid-century ceramics and Liberty's legendary print archive—creating a piece that feels both vintage and utterly fresh, sophisticated yet joyfully exuberant.

Height: 70 cm (27.5 in) with lampshade
Diameter: 31 cm (12.2 in) with lampshade

About Manises Ceramics

For more than six centuries, the town of Manises in Valencia has been one of Spain’s foremost centers of ceramic art. Its workshops trace their origins to the Hispano-Moresque potters of the 14th century, who brought to Spain the intricate tin-glaze and metallic lustre techniques of Al-Andalus. Over time, these influences evolved into the distinctive Manises majolica style—earthenware with creamy glazes, cobalt blues, and rhythmic geometric decoration.

By the 20th century, Manises had become synonymous with the Spanish decorative revival, producing exuberant forms and bold glazes for the modern home. Its artisans reinterpreted medieval and Renaissance motifs in sculptural mid-century lamps and vessels, combining traditional skill with postwar optimism. Today, Manises ceramics remain prized for their expressive color, distinctive modeling, and the continuity of a craft that has defined Valencian artistry for generations.

About Liberty Fabrics

Founded by Arthur Lasenby Liberty in London in 1875, Liberty Fabrics has long stood at the intersection of art, design, and craftsmanship. What began as a small emporium offering exotic textiles from the East soon became a creative powerhouse, known for its fluid collaboration with artists of the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movements.

Each Liberty print begins as an original artwork, hand-drawn by the brand’s in-house design team and printed on fine cottons, silks, or linens at the Liberty mill in northern Italy. The Nesfield Collection, inspired by 19th-century landscape architect William Andrews Nesfield, celebrates nature’s complexity through layered foliage and botanical pattern. Balancing heritage and modern artistry, Liberty fabrics bring a uniquely British sense of refinement and imagination to contemporary interiors.
